It’s Not You…It’s Me
Goodbye Tumblr. I’m leaving you (as my main blogging service) and will be transfering to Blogger. Why? Because I can. But in all honesty, I just want something new. Tumblr was great in the beginning but now it’s just a little meh.
And I don’t want to do meh anymore.
Plus, I’m trying to do this whole blogging thing a little more systematically.
I may be back. I may not.
But if you’d like to continue to follow my antics here’s my new site.

Busyness is often misconstrued as a measure of success, it’s important to take care of yourself and put aside time to just be. Don’t underestimate the value of doing nothing.
Important! I love this!
I must remember this! I need to just have time to do absolutely nothing…and enjoy it.

Waking up to this is the best feeling ever :-) I’m so blessed to have such wonderful and caring people in my life. Thank you.
That’s the Ish I Don’t Like
One word that I wish would cease to exist would have to be the word plantation. And before you jump on me because you think I’m going to tag it back to slavery and all that mess… You’re right. I am.
Plantation Shutters - Love the look, hate the name. So I’ll never get them.
Plantations as museums - Love to learn, hate the name. So I’ll never willingly visit.
Plantations as Attractions - Hate the concept. Hate the name. Hate everything about it.
People who actually name their property [Last Name] plantation.
I can’t. I just can’t.
Maybe I’m being “sensitive”. After all, this happened hundreds of years ago. -_-
The word plantation still makes me think of the racism that is still apparent today. It makes me think of the concept of white privilege that of course, is still apparent today. I could go on and on. But I’m just going to say.
I hate the word plantation.
And yes, my mother told me to never use the word hate unless you mean it. I meant every word I wrote.

Just One of Them Days…
You ever have one of those days when you feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Yea, well I’ve been feeling like this for the past 5 days now and it’s come to a point where I’m disgusted with myself. I’ve only worked out once this week and I feel as though I’ve put on 10 lbs in the past week. It didn’t help that Thanksgiving was last week and that clearly is a holiday in which we celebrate gluttony in all shapes and forms - Black Friday anyone?
I’m sick of it. Sick of stuffing my face with honey nut cheerios after I eat half a container of Sesame Chicken. I’m fine when I’m at work but I seem to have this insatiable hunger when I get home. Really, I know it’s because I’m procrastinating on getting started on a paper that’s due in two days.
Guess I need to kick myself in the butt, literally, and get going. On my paper. On my workouts. On the rest of my life.

It’s been a long time, shouldn’t of left you…
Without a dope post to read to…
Guess who’s back? Back again?
Ok…I’m done. Promise. NOT! Don’t call it a comeback!
Ok. Now I’m done.
Let’s just skip the “Hey Karla, why haven’t you posted in forever?” and let me just update you on my life. Cool? Well you don’t have a choice.
School: Last two weeks of my summer course and let me tell you…it’s a tough one. Well it’s finance so what else could I expect? Eh. I’ll end up with at least a B in the class but I kinda want that B+ or A- thing. We’ll see about that. The prof isn’t the best at giving feedback that is actually usable.
Work: Work is going awesome. It’s the summer so it’s a little slow but that’s fine. Got a raise and scored an outstanding on my performance review. Sweet.
Hair: I was getting sick of it so I put it in yarn braids. Took the better part of two days but I didn’t have anything else to do so I took my time. Two days of work = not having to style my hair (fo’ real fo’ real) for a good month? I’ll take it. Pictures coming soon. Well probably later rather than sooner. Just keeping it real.
Love-Lea,LLC: Not sure if I told you all but I started a business. I’ve been thinking of starting it for a good six months now but life got in the way and it just wasn’t the best time. Well, time let up for about two weeks (literally, two weeks before I started classes again) so I was able to launch it and start it.
I make homemade body products (lotions, body butters, and lip balms for now) and will be expanding to hair care, soap, and bath accessories in the near future.
How’s it going? Well. But it could be better! Please stop by the website and purchase a thing or two! I’ll be adding new products once classes are complete and I have a month off. Visit www.shoplovelea.bigcartel.com I take orders as well as suggestions… if they’re friendly. :)
Weight Loss: Well…technically I’ve only lost about 10 lbs since the beginning of the year but I’ve hit a plateau. To tell you the truth, I’ve put exercising on the back burner because of well…life. But I’ll be picking that back up very soon. As a matter of fact, I have a surprise for you all coming shortly. Think big. Ok…not that big. Tone it down a notch bucky. Stay tuned. Oh…and I’ve been completely pescetarian for almost two months now. Woot woot!
5k: I completed my third 5 k last week while it was a bajillion degrees outside. Why I decided to do a mud run, not just a regular 5 k, in the middle of the hottest day of the year is beyond me. That shit cray! But I finished and it was awesome! I will def be doing it again next year! In fact, I have another mud run next Saturday with the girls :) Can’t wait.
And that’s pretty much it. Now you’re all caught up on my life (for the most part).

5 Things You Should Know About Eggs
- 1| Rocky didn’t know what the hell he was doing. Besides the salmonella risk, downing eggs raw won’t provide as much fuel for muscle growth. Studies show that the protein in fully cooked eggs is 91% bio available, or ready to be used by the body. Raw eggs are only half as potent.
- 2| While a yolk carries all of an eggs, five grams of fat and 186 mg of cholesterol, it also packs about half the egg’s six grams of protein, as well as its payload of amino acids and vitamins A, B, D, E, and K. This is why many lifters opt for whole eggs plus added whites.
- 3 | Egg yolks contain choline, an essential nutrient that helps maintain brain-cell structure and neurotransmitters.
- 4| The spindly white fiber attached to the yolk is called the chalaza, which protects the yolk by keeping it suspended within the shell.
- 5 | There is absolutely no nutritional difference between brown eggs and white ones. Brown eggs are laid by hens with red earlobes, and white eggs are laid by hens with white earlobes. End of story.
BAM! Dropping a little eggy knowledge on you. One reason why I could NEVER go vegan or lacto vegetarian for that matter is because of these…eggs. Perfect snack in it’s own little carrying case.
